It's the wild west at the Power Conference level - and every school is looking for every advantage. They pushed the envelope, but don't think for a moment the rest of the Power schools weren't looking on with interest to see if LSU was allowed to do what they were trying to do.

And I would imagine that the pro sports franchises were watching as well.    They have a kid drafted but still has eligibility to play.    The agent goes the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA and says hey what are you offering.....then back to the university and says you beat this and we stay for another year / two. 

It changes the dynamics of a lower round pick.   Stay a year at lsu, alabama, ohio state, etc. and you get better and move up in the draft next year....or get hurt.   But they would have that big NIL money and an insurance policy just in case.    

We need to get some "sanity" in this mess.

In some ways I was pulling for LSU but then my soul was pulling for Ole Miss.  It did something for both schools.   I think Ken Trahan alluded to it.   Both got something out of the game.     Both have flaws in the process.     A QB playing a 6th Year.    A coach trying to put professionals on the roster.    It really takes away from what many of us old people thought about college athletics.   

To see an Ervin Johnson do what he did with the NIL / Transfer Portal and to think that today we might have had him on our roster for a year or two.    Not get his degree from our alma mater and never have that "connection" is something lost in the process.       

So while I watched the game, the team uniforms are the only thing with some consistency.....and I guess the attitude of the lsu fans.     Nice to see them taken down one notch at least for the rest of this week.     I hope they have enough money for the next buyout......

Seeing Lane and the flagship lose makes me happy.
