Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - SECOER - 09-08-2026 https://crescentcitysports.com/sec-escalates-lsu-dispute-puts-ending-conference-membership-on-table/ I think this entire issue tarnishes LSU's reputation. I am not sure how it will shake out but LSU being kicked out of the SEC would be a major issue for the university. I am not sure that they want or should try to fight the "pro player" issue with the SEC. It is going to be interesting to see who blinks.....and I doubt it is going to be the conference. RE: Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - WhyCantYouSpell - 09-08-2026 I have my doubts that they'll boot them from the SEC. That said all this is such a huge mess. RE: Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - reduno - 09-08-2026 YES it is a MESS. Seems everywhere kiffin goes, trouble seems to follow. I admit that not only have I not really been following this much but that i'm more and more tuning out ncaa news because its as bad as politics and horrible weather forecasts. RE: Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - Unofan - 09-08-2026 I'm not a fan of Lane Kiffin, Will Wade, the NCAA, NIL, rampant sports gambling.....I won't touch politics. I agree that it's not a good look for LSU. If we have to go this route, I'd rather just go to D2, D3, or NAIA. You can't escape it, but at least it's not as bad. I don't think we have $200 million in our sports budget though to follow LSU's route. I agree that it's not a good look for LSU. I hope eventually things will settle down and there will be place for non p4 schools to compete on a relatively equal playing field with student athletes. P4 can transition to a professional mode. What their relationship to the school will be is anyone's guess. I agree that it's not a good look for LSU. Yep. Some athletic departments are actually becoming private businesses selling equity to investors. LSU would be insane to get booted from the SEC and the millions in revenue sharing for two players who'll be gone in one year anyway. The SEC knows it. From George Will commentary yesterday in the Times Picayune: "Southeastern and Big Ten conferences discovered a limit to their permissiveness: They are trying to stop LSU — a rogue football program, akin to North Korea — from recruiting two players who had suited up for NFL preseason training but wanted to return to college." RE: Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - SECOER - 09-08-2026 If the SEC doesn't want to kick them out.....make them ineligible for any championships in the SEC. This NIL money issue is crazy and driving the college sport to its potential demise. I can't fathom a scenerio where a player leaves the program to "try out" for a pro team and returns unless they didn't get paid....wink wink....which would be hard for me to believe. I would assume the pro team pays for their lodging, meals, etc. SO is that not some type of compensation? RE: Looks like LSU and Kiffin stepped into a minefield..... - reduno - 09-08-2026 Who's in charge at LSU? Kiffin? Poor leadership. |
