New color scheme question - privateerboy - 06-17-2026 Has anyone heard what they plan to do with Lakefront Arena in light of the change of school colors to purple and gold? That place is about as BLUE as you can get, and it would seem to cost a lot of money to change, especially in light of the financial situation we are in. Just curious. RE: New color scheme question - SECOER - 06-17-2026 Just my opinion here but it is going to be a big ticket item to repaint and upgrade the Arena. I am not sure what the exact plans are but I saw a report on the UNO website that listed the cost for facilities upgrades. https://www.uno.edu/media/40496 On slide 5 it shows the arena needed $52.3 million for upgrades which I would assume would include painting. But the exterior skin, seating, roof, etc all need to be addressed. It also shows the rest of the expected cost for the entire campus over the next 10 years being near $355 Million. I do know that the arena has been underutilized due to the fact that the concerts / events that formerly used it have gone to venues because the rigging requirements have changed for their shows. The current rigging set up at the arena cannot support the requirements. It will cost some money but if the arena has the ability to host these events it should create a revenue source for the university. I would think that it is a no brainer to find those funds as an investment into the future of the university to do just that. In my opinion it is going to be years before the campus / arena see any significant changes other than a change in some signs and a few rooms at a time approach. RE: New color scheme question - bucco19 - 07-01-2026 Should've gone with a different coloring of the logos. I made this quick mockup: ![]() RE: New color scheme question - SECOER - 07-01-2026 ![]() (Yesterday, 12:15 PM)bucco19 Wrote: Should've gone with a different coloring of the logos. Have to admit - I kinda like the sign. While I'm not a fan of the name change or color scheme change, LSU knows its stuff as far as tying the athletic branding to the overall University branding. The old "University of New Orleans" sign is replaced by a sign that says "LSU New Orleans: HOME OF THE PRIVATEERS" I like the emphasis on our mascot identity. I hope that translates to an attitude on campus that supports and encourages support of Privateer athletics. Struggling to upload or copy in an image. But it should be easy to find. RE: New color scheme question - Steve - 07-01-2026 I think, in my infinite wisdom, I might have disabled file attachments on mobile in the interest of not having so much crap on the screen given limited space. If this is something you or any mobile users do frequently, let me know and I will work on adding that back. RE: New color scheme question - Slidell - 07-01-2026 Not necessary for me. I don't typically post pictures, etc. I'm sure this will show up in a story we can link to. And, well, it's the big freaking sign in front of the UC. So everyone will see it soon enough. Haha. I would agree with you on the unveiling. While I am saddened by the color change, that sign looks pretty impressive, and I never expected to say that. RE: New color scheme question - SECOER - 07-01-2026 My wife and I attended today. I will say the overall presentation by the LSU system president, the interim Chancellor and the mayor of New Olreans was very well done. The LSU President made it a point to talk to Coach Maestri, who was sitting behind me and then thanked my wife and me (he doesn't know either of us) for attending. The mood was upbeat with a few wearing their "UNO Alumni" shirts and apparel. And like mentioned before the sign outside the UC is done very well. The video used in the presentation was really done well and done by the students at the LSU New Orleans campus with one of their professors. If I can get the link to the video shown in the presentation I will post it. RE: New color scheme question - Slidell - 07-01-2026 Here is a link to a NOLA.com article with photos from today. A nice one of the sign. https://www.nola.com/multimedia/photos/photos-the-lakefront-turns-purple-and-gold-as-the-university-of-new-orleans-joins-the/collection_f6bc2335-010f-4220-826c-c1b930be5e7c.html?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwdGRjcASyeItwZG9mAWZkaWQWUJuwI7QzOy404p14SLbb8VgP70qiLGV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR75Uw8ir2LxhM-KJtM1li43svXP7denznexcclUqk8Zl2i67FPF0-ND9slHDw_aem_NI4QP99Tq2d_Y2wxfyQeqQ#10 |
